HOW MY FAITH MAKES ME LIVE

To understand my Faith in my everyday life, it is necessary to understand what makes me live. I would say that Faith is a ‘gift’ story and a great love story. A ‘gift’ story, first of all, because I believe it is God who gives us the gift of Faith. God chooses us. God calls us.

God has a plan of love for us and like every ‘gentleman’, God needs our assent, our YES in order to act in our lives.

And that is where the love story begins; it is a marriage. When I said yes, God gave God-self to me and I learned to know God. And, attached to God, I also gave myself to God and it is thus that God lived in me. And, as God is in me, we are one.

Now, when we love someone more than anything and that person is not just anyone but Christ, who gave himself for me and for the world so that I might be agreeable to God by my Faith, so that I might approach the Throne of Glory with assurance, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the One who is seated at God’s right hand.

When we are aware that God is in us, can our lives remain the same? Absolutely not! Therefore, through love and respect for God, I behave so that each day of my life is agreeable to God.

Like a spouse, I listen to God; I obey God. I try to know what God wants, what gives God pleasure and I do what pleases God. I try to behave so that God will be proud of me and I give myself to God more and more as God gave God-self to me and not only to me but also to others, I ought to give myself to others through service, so that they may know Christ and give him a place in their lives.

It is, therefore, the risen Christ that I proclaim to the youth preparing for Confirmation but also to every person who asks me what makes me live, a living Christ who can do all things and is capable of all. I witness to him whenever the opportunity arises. But it is ultimately by a living fidelity to Christ that I will best witness to him. We cannot say yes without consequences. We cannot believe without acting according to our beliefs.
