The Spirit is the Spirit of the Father and of the Son. She is not on her own nor separeted from them.(...)
Though her role is a hidden one, we know her by her gifts of love, joy peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)
Wherever you spot these, you have discovered the presence of the good Spirit. She is the one who creates space in us and shapes our hearts so that The Father and Son may live in us.
The Spirit Is Given
The Spirit is fully given to us. The donation of the Father and the Son is unrestricted and unconditional. Knowing this, we have hope for the happy outcome of the dark mystery of human history.(...)
The Spirit is unobtrusive, self-effacing and gentle. Her mission is interior rather than exterior. Her role is to touch our spirits and bring them into harmony with her own, so that ultimately there will be one spirit, the spirit of mutual accepting love, in all of us.(...)
The Spirit In the World
The Spirit wants to show us the Son's beauty and the father's tenderness. She is also accountable to them for the completion of the work of our salvation: the gathering of all humankind into the final community of love, pure energy, she works tirelessly and is infinitely resourceful. She labours in all human hearts, both in the hearts of those who acknowledge God and in those who don't. Her goal is to draw us into the intimacy of divine company. She has been working in the world from the beginning because the world has always been kept lovingly in mind by God. She moved the hearts of Abraham, Moses and all the prophets. (...)
She labours to form in us the mind and attitudes of Jesus and inspires in us loving activity which is in line with the Gospels. Thus, she is always bringing us to the Table and introducing us to the Son and to the Father.
Prayer
In our prayer, the Spirit is the central Person. She is always in us. Our hearts are essentially places of prayer in which the Son and the Spirit are ceaselessly responding to the love of the Father. While we do our best to pray, it is primarily the Holy Spirit who never ceases to pray in us. This prayer is our heart's treasure. We are caught up into the song which Son and Spirit sing to the Father. Slowly, as we mature over the years, we catch on better and better to the melody and make it our own.The Holy Spirit enables us to say 'Abba', 'Father'. This ability to say 'Abba' is a wonderful gift, for it means that we are brought fully into the family relationship of the Trinity.
