Exhibition, Sales and Cultural programme and singing of Carols,

By the War affected youth in Vanni- the PBN FAMILY Project

We the Holy Family Sisters are great plans to celebrate the Bicentenary celebration- 200 years of our being as PBN Family in 2020. To be realistic to the changing times of the world, and to be in solidarity with the needy and the vulnerable people in the society, a Common Project of the PBN Family is in operation in Vanni, for the war affected youth, which is facilitated by the Unit Team of Jaffna.

While striving to build peace and reconciliation within themselves and with the society, we have embarked on livelihood activities and even the recreational activity has been developed into a supplementary livelihood programme.

Products from these activities like cloth bags to promote ‘No to polythene’, knit wear, pillow cases, envelopes, wooden key tags and other wooden handicraft products are to be exhibited and a sale also has been anticipated to promote confidence and possible income earning among the target youth group.

To encourage this Project target group, we had organized on 26 th November 2017, Christmas carols, cultural program, exhibition and sale of their products at the Mallavi Central College. The members from the five vocations in the Holy Family participated in it; they are the apostolic Sisters, Priest associates, Secular members and Lay Associates from different places. The Provincial of the Jaffna Unit, Sr.Christa Mariathas, lighted the traditional Lamp and inaugurated the programme. The exhibition hall declared opened by Rev.Fr.P.J.Jebaretnam Vicar General and our Priest Associate. Sr.Christa and other sisters distributed the prizes to the participants. This programme came to a close at 5.00 p.m. with a thanks giving prayer.
